REP-2003-1889977136-X3 Homer Laughlin (Identification and Pricing) by: Page, Frederiksen & Six
Collector Bookstore is a retailer of new books located in Leavenworth, Kansas. We specialize in price guides and reference books for the antiques and collectibles industry. OUR NOTES: Those who care about Homer Laughlin will most certainly wish to add this new, authoritative book to their library. The book is published by Replacements, Limited. Most readers will be familiar with this firm, but for those who arent, Replacements Ltd is the largest and most reputable firm specializing in providing replacement china pieces for out of pattern china and dinnerware of all sorts. Replacements, Ltd. has also pioneered the identification of many formerly obscure pattern names, makers, etc. The book is authored by Bob Page, Dale Frederiksen and Dean Six. Page and Frederiksen have long been noted for their scholarly work on a variety of topics, from China to Crystal. This large, well documented volume is 559 pages long and even contains a numerical index in back to pattern numbers for which there is presently no pattern name known. All aspects of Homer Laughlin are represented in depth, including Fiesta, their decorated dinnerware lines, and more. The book opens with the topic of American Beauty, first produced in 1899, and closes with the Tablefair line of 1980. A separate removable price guide insert is also included. The advantage of this method is that future price updates to this fine work should be inexpensive, since only the pricing insert will need to be purchased instead of the full volume. This will also make it much easier for the publisher to update the work routinely, without the necessity of reprinting and editing the entire reference. I heartily recommend this new, important work to all collectors and dealers who need to either identify or price Homer Laughlin china. ---- copyright 2004, Collector Bookstore PUBLISHER'S DESCRIPTION: This book contains almost 4,000 Homer Laughlin dinnerware patterns in full color, plus hundreds of additional photographs, advertisements, pamphlets, and the history of The Homer Laughlin China Company and its dinnerware. Piece type lists and drawings of each shape are included, as well as a visual index to help identify the shape of your pattern.
