Why is a GIA diamond certificate so important?

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) is the most well respected gem laboratory in the world.  The GIA only certifies 100% natural diamonds.  They will not give certification to manufactured diamond imitations or to diamonds that have been clarity enhanced or color treated.  The GIA has literally set the industry standard for diamond grading and gemological identification.  That is why the most prestigious jewelers in the world sell only GIA certified diamonds.  There are thousands of engagement rings on Ebay, but only a select few of them come with a certificate from the GIA.  If you want to be absolutely certain that the diamond you are buying is 100% natural and is being graded accurately, then you should insist on GIA certification.  Please visit the GIA website for more information on how to buy a diamond, and visit our Utopia Diamonds Jewelry Store to find more GIA certified diamond jewelry.

Independent Third Party Verification - All of our jewelry come with a GIA certificate or an appraisal from a well respected independent third party.  Because our advertised diamond weight, color and clarity are verified by an objective third party, you can make your purchase with confidence.  In contrast, many of our competitors give in-house appraisals with their jewelry.  These appraisals tend to exaggerate the quality and value of the jewelry.  We think that's bad business.

Accurate & Well Respected Diamond Certification - In the diamond jewelry trade, there are only a few gemological laboratories that are widely respected for being accurate, fair and objective.  Without certification from one of these laboratories, selling or trading in your diamond will be difficult.  At the top of the list is the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and the American Gem Society (AGS), they are the most well respected gem labs in the world.  Their diamond grading standards have a reputation for being the most strict and therefore diamonds certified by them carry a price premium.  After these two, you have the European Gemological Laboratory (EGL) and the International Gemological Institute (IGI).  These gem labs are also considered respectable and are frequently used in the diamond trade.   Almost all of our diamonds are certified by one of these four well respected gem laboratories.  On Ebay, you will see a lot of diamonds that are certified by many different gem laboratories.  Unfortunately, some of these gem labs are bogus or are simply operations owned and controlled by jewelers who want official looking inflated appraisals.  When basing your diamond purchase decision on a diamond certificate, you want to make sure that the certifying gem laboratory is legitimate.  Ask your local jewelry store about which gem labs to trust and you will see that our company uses only those laboratories.

3. We Disclose All Diamond Cut Details - How well a diamond is cut is just as important as the color and clarity of the diamond.  Two diamonds can have the same weight, color and clarity, but the quality of their cut and brilliance can cause the prices of these diamonds to differ tremendously.  For every engagement ring center diamond we sell, we give you the diamond's measurements, depth percentage, table percentage, polish grade and symmetry grade.  We fully disclose all the information that is shown on the diamond's certificate.  Unfortunately, many other sellers don't disclose the cut characteristics of the diamonds they sell.  Without knowing the full details of the Four Cs (carat, color, clarity and cut), you can't make a well informed purchase or accurately compare prices.  Utopia Diamonds only sells well cut diamonds that have been certified by very well respected gemological laboratories, as mentioned above.
