This auction is for a 1/144 scale Gothic Mansion Dollhouse Kit by Northeastern Scale Models, Inc.
The design for the Gothic Mansion comes from a Gothic fairy-tale house in NY state. The Gothic Mansion when assembled measures 2 3/4" high x 4 1/2" wide x 2 3/4" deep. The Gothic Mansion has two floors, with a total of six rooms. Landscaping and platform are not included.
Dollhouse Miniatures Construction Tips
The first thing to do is lay out the parts on a flat surface to help you identify the pieces. Remember, these pieces are fragile, so handle them carefully.
Next, read the instructions step by step. This will enable you to get a complete picture of the project. As you assemble your kit, always keep the next step in mind so that you are aware of how the step you are working on fits into the overall assembly.
Sanding: These pieces may require some sanding using very fine sand paper. If you choose to sand it is important not to over-sand so that you do not change the dimensions and fit of the piece. Always sand with the grain of the wood. It is easiest to sand parts while still attached to the sheet, then carefully cut parts from the sheet with a model knife. Do not “snap” parts from the sheet, this will result in breakage.
Gluing: In gluing your kit together, we recommend using a good quality wood glue and applying it with a toothpick. Remember, wood glue will adhere better to unfinished wood as opposed to painted or stained wood.
Assembly: Take your time and test-position each piece before gluing. Also, make sure you allow adequate time for the wood glue to dry between steps.
Finishing: Craft type acrylic paints work fine. Use several thin coats instead of one heavy coat. It is easiest to paint parts while still on the sheets, then touch-up after they are removed from the sheets. We recommend painting all parts before assembly. After painting, place parts between sheets of wax paper or plastic wrap and leave under weights (heavy books are good) overnight. This will help to prevent warping.
