This a 1/4 scale Wickens 135 cu.in. hydroplane. It was used as a proof of concept for a full scale replica I no longer have. The model was built with birch plywood frames, is sheeted in balsa and is glassed. The model was in my storage shed during Hurricanes Francis and Jean in 2004 and got bumped around a bit. It has one hole in a sponson and some areas where the paint needs work. There is also tape residue around the hatch. This could be fitted with R/C. Fred Wickens built four of this particular model and then got a nasty call from Ventnor's lawyers wanting royalties or for him to stop building three points. Fred switched to flat bottoms till Ventnor's demise in 1951 and then went back to building three points. The model is approximately 46" long by 23" at the sponsons. It will require a large box for shipping.
I will not end the auction early or reveal my reserve so please do not ask. Please ask any other questions before the end of the auction so everybody stays happy. Model is as described and is being sold "as is". Buyer pays actual shipping only. I do not pad my shipping. Good luck! I picked UPS ground because I thought it would be cheapest. The size of the box (52" x 32" x 12") is driving the shipping costs. USPS says it is too large to mail. If you can find a cheaper way to ship let me know.
