I have been accused more than once of being a bit crazy, over-the-top, off my rocker, not on the planet, eccentric in the 3rd degree, and so on when it comes to mechanical works of art and high end collectables. I've been told more often than I care to recall that I could own real versions of many of the toys I collect for less that the cost of full-size versions. Yep, right there too.
Recently I came across another miniature engine project that I want to pursue, so I thought I would give the world of ebay something to talk about and offer this incredible example of mechanical art and see if there is just one real collector out there that understands and appreciates what it takes to build something as incredible as this 1/4 Scale Chopper you see here in the pictures.
The bike took several years to complete and was built by Master Designer, and Model Builder Extrordinaire, Don Nowell. Every detail is just like a full-size motorcycle only in miniature. There are no plastic parts on this gem with the exception of the tail-light. Every part is hand made from steel, and aluminum. The tires are rubber of course and sport the correct lettering just like a full-size version. Even the seat is made of foam rubber and covered with hand-stitched leather like full-size bike.
Yes, even the tiny little spoles of the front wheel were turned on a lathe and have threaded spoke nipples too. The paint work rivals any real custom chopper I have seen and the little flames are incredible!. The engine is a work of art in itself. It is a real 1/4 scale 1937 Harley Knucklehead, and was built by Replica Engines under license by Harley Davidson. Those of you who had the opportunity to own one, know that it was designed and built as a running model engine. Includes a beautifully made Marble and Mahogany display. I will build a custom wood crate to keep it safe in transport.
Keep your eyes open for some other collectables as I offer some very rare items.
