ALL OF OUR BLOCKS, BASIC AND PREMIUM, ARE MILLED FROM INDUSTRIAL-GRADE SLABS OF 1/2-INCH THICK ACRYLIC. THEY MAY NOT BE AS THICK AS THE BLOCKS SOLD IN STORES OR CATALOGS, BUT THEY PERFORM JUST AS WELL FOR A FRACTION OF THE COST!

ONCE A BASIC BLOCK IS CUT FROM THE SLAB, IT GOES TO A MACHINE THAT ROUNDS OVER THE EDGES AND CORNERS. THIS IS AN IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURE AS RAW CORNERS MAY BE AS SHARP AS BROKEN GLASS. THE MAJORITY OF BLOCKS OFFERED ON EBAY DON'T OFFER THIS FEATURE, YET THEY FREQUENTLY COST MORE THAN OUR BLOCKS!

THE SAW MARKS MADE BY THE MILLING MACHINES ARE LEFT ON THE SIDES OF THE BLOCKS AS THEY POSE NO SAFETY PROBLEMS. FROM HERE, THE BASIC BLOCKS ARE READY TO SHIP.

WHEN A PREMIUM BLOCK IS CUT FROM THE SLAB, IT GOES TO A MACHINE THE SHAVES OFF THE MARKS MADE BY THE SAW BLADES. THE SHAVER ADDS A PROFESSIONAL-LOOKING MATTE FINISH. SOME SELLERS OFFER A POLISHED FINISH ON THE SIDES OF THEIR BLOCKS. SURE, THEY LOOK NICE BUT HOW MUCH TIME DOES A STAMPER SPEND LOOKING THROUGH THE SIDES OF A STAMP BLOCK?  NONE?  SORRY, BUT A SHINEY, SLIPPERY FINISH ONLY ADDS TO THE PRICE OF THE BLOCK.  WE THOUGHT THE GOAL WAS TO SAVE MONEY ON BLOCKS.

THE THIRD STEP OF THE PROCESS ROUNDS OVER THE CORNERS AND EDGES JUST LIKE THE BASIC BLOCKS. THE FINAL STEP TAKES PLACE AT AN ENGRAVER. WE ETCH A SIGHT-LINE INTO ALL OF THE PREMIUM BLOCKS EXCEPT THE 1 X 1 SIZES. (THEY'RE TOO SMALL TO SAFELY FIT INTO THE MACHINE.) THE SIGHT LINES MAKE IT REALLY EASY TO PLACE MULTIPLE STAMPS IN A STRAIGHT LINE ON A SINGLE BLOCK.

THE BASIC BLOCKS MIGHT NOT BE AS FANCY AS THE PREMIUM ONES, BUT THEY SURE ARE A GREAT PRICE!
