"The
action figure contains a plastic woven straw conical hat, two pocket
grenade pouch, and viet cong rucksack. Considered to be one of the most
effective civilian guerrilla forces in modern history, the Viet Nam Cong
San or "Viet Cong" began as a loose group of approximately
10,000 former communist troops stranded in South Vietnam following the
French Indochina War of the 1950's. Aided by North Vietnamese military
forces, the Vietcong's primary purpose was to employ guerrilla tactics
that would create havoc in South Vietnam and ultimately aid in the
downfall of South Vietnam's ruling government."
