This is an authentic artifact from Lawrence County, Alabama made from a glossy, creek-stained tan chert. It's very thin and lies flat with some ancient use wear (the tips of each ear & the very tip). My creekwalking buddy the next county over brings me a frame every month or two...my regulars might recall a Black Lost Lake, a small Beaver Lake, or a big Black Pinetree I've sold over the last few months...he's picked them all up in the creek he hunts, and this piece was the best one in his latest group. Ground basal edge...in the angled photos the beveled blade edges have a shadow on them (which makes them look darker), but when held in hand there is no question all flaking is ancient. All four blade edges are beveled, one face the beveling is a tad more pronouncd. If you wanted to call this a Lost Lake I'd say maybe so, but I leaned more towards a Kirk because the beveling is on all four edges, I usually think of Lakes having two beveled blade edges. A very good example made from a quality material.
