1 GIANT SEQUOIA XL REDWOOD TREE SEEDLING LIVE PLANT 08

Your bid is for 1 giant sequoia (Sequoiadendron giganteum) seedling that is 18” to 22” tall. This XL seedling is from our 2008 crop. It is 18 months old. The buyer will receive a tree similar to the one pictured. The picture was taken on 9/1/09. 

This seedling is grown in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California near the ancient groves of giant sequoias. It is grown outdoors and conditioned to wind, heat, and cold. Sequoias have very tender feeder roots that are broken with the slightest touch. The plant depends on these fragile little roots for hydration and sustenance. Breaking these feeder roots harms the tree so I only ship them in the containers with roots and soil intact preserving the tender roots. The tree can be easily removed from the container without harming the roots and planted with the root ball intact.  

Giant sequoias grow in all climate zones. The transplant success rate of our container grown stock is 100% if proper care is provided. Sequoias are not drought resistant. You must be prepared to water the tree to get it started and during times of drought thereafter.
