10" Cypress Knee Old World SANTA CLAUS Wood Carving New

This listing offers a  10" Cypress Knee Old World SANTA CLAUS Wood Carving New.  I hand-carved this Old World Santa Claus, using a 10-inch tall Cypress Knee ... which was one of a group harvested in the Florida Everglades by my brother, then delivered to me here in Arizona. I have been storing the cypress knees for several years, and this is the very first one that I carved. This carving measures about 3-1/2" wide and stands 10" high. The shape of the cypress knee, after stripping off the bark, dictates where to place the face, how tall to make the hat, etc. This green-eyed Santa Claus is dressed in a bright red robe and tall pointy hat, trimmed with grey fur. His tall hat features a yellow star, which was carved out, then painted. I used a woodburner to create the detail lines in Santa's beard, moustache, eyebrows, and fur trim before painting. I woodburned my name and the year, "b.j. moore 2009", into the back of the carving before painting. The carving was finished with a coat of MIN-WAX Semi-Gloss Finish. This carving was just completed. It comes from a non-smoking household, and is in excellent condition.
