The lot contains Medium to Large sized Greek coins. Some of these coins are encrusted, some show detail.

These coins were all struck by hand in different locations throughout the Greek Empire so every one is different then the next. Just think who could have held these coins a Greek soldier or maybe even Alexander The Great or Ptolemy. These coins have been found Buried and most of these coins will date from 700 BC - 250 AD. Because there were no banks at the time, many of these coins were buried for safe keeping by their owners. Many hoards were buried by Greek, before they went off to battle. However, many of the soldiers did not return and thus their money were left in the ground only to be discovered millenniums later by archeologists or people using metal detectors.
