This vintage horse measures 10 inches to the tip of his ears and about 9 ½ inches from his chest straight across to his tail. He is hollow base metal with a copper coating or patina. Although he is hollow, he weighs 2 pounds 7 ounces. He is nicely molded and still has his ball chain reins.

Overall, he is in very good condition. His most obvious flaw is a smear of light green paint less than 3/8 of an inch across so low on his left flank. Please see the photograph. I think he was involved in a “brush” with some interior house paint at some point in his career. Slight traces of verdigris are adding character to the sculpting on his tail, especially the left side. There are also small amounts of verdigris elsewhere on this horse such as his right front hoof and shoulder, and his left hip. His shiny right hip has irregularities in the finish. It is hard to tell what caused them. They look like 5 short spatter marks.

He has no breaks or tears. There are mold marks on the front hoofs. In spite of the flaws I have listed, I feel he is in remarkably good condition for his age and size.

I found him at a street festival in the 1980s. He has been stored in a dry, non-smoking environment and is in virtually the same condition in which I found him. He has been exposed to pet hair and I cannot say he has not been exposed to other potential allergens.

Because of his size and overall condition, I think he is very decorative and would enhance a collection or Western décor.
