These are established ROOTS; not seed as you see everyone else selling. Get yours now. Limited quantity available. Height: The root has a pungent, aromatic smell like mild pepper and ginger mixed, but more strongly aromatic. An evergreen wild ginger flowering in the late spring with a jug-shaped red brown flower. Leaves have distinctive triangular shape with dark blue-green leaves mottled in patterns of gray and silver, but can be variable in shape and variegation. A beautiful and resilient ground cover for the shade. Fragrant when bruised. An essential oil obtained from the plant has the odor of sassafras. Will grow in sandy to clay soils in more acid conditions, but must have good drainage. Hardiness: Bloom The many confusing species of wild ginger are unrelated to the tropical culinary spice. These small perennials may be either evergreen, like his one, or deciduous. Patterns of leaf markings vary greatly. Some varieties obtained in the horticultural trade are prized for shady gardens. To find the flowers in spring, you must look carefully below the surface of the leaf litter.
