These threads have been used in Chinese traditional hand embroidery for thousands of years, there are altogether 750 colors available, all hand-dyed. The above pictures show some sample projects using these silk threads. I’ve now matched my silks to DMC art117 floss colors, so that cross stitch lover can also enjoy the pleasure of working with silks. I’ve been selling them to cross-stitchers in China for several months and received very positive feedback. Here for your consideration are 50 skeins of 100% pure silk threads/floss, 1100 yards in total Each skein: single strand x 22 yars (appr. 20 meters) Use single strand for 48ct fabrics, 2-3 strands for 14 ct fabrics, or 1/2 strand for 54ct fabrics 3 ways to pick colors: 1) Just give me your desired DMC art117 color numbers. You can view all the colors and color description at: http://www.dmc.com/majic/pageServer/0p0100001b/en/Colour-card---Article-117.html; please note that some silk colors may differ slightly with the DMC cotton floss, because of silk’s special sheen. 2) You may also give me the color number in the pictures in this listing (Kindly be reminded that colors in your computer may vary with the actual silks due to individual computer monitor set up); 3) I also have hand prepared a color card with around 0.8 yard of each color of the silk thread. There are altogether 750 colors. This can give you a best view of all the colors and their sheen. This color card is priced at $30, please contact me if you need it. How to handle/organize the silks? 1) you may apply some lotion to your hands when handling them to prevent tangles and static 2) each skein has a knot to separate from each other. Carefully unknot the skein, then you may put it onto a cushion to help wind to bobbins. Or you may invent your own method to wind them that best suits you J See picture below. 3) If you need to wash the finished project, please use only mild detergent and hand wash only! Very important: kindly be reminded that as all my silk threads are hand-prepared, they will come WITHOUT labels. You will have to organize and label them by yourself. I understand this is inconvenient, and so far this is the only complaint I’ve got for my silks. I am trying hard to find out a way to solve this inconvenience in the near future.
