Description:

The period of the Hoysalas froms an important chapter in the history of
karnataka. Their coinage is however shrouded with obscurity. Expect for the
mention of few gadyanas and hanas nothing much has been said about their
coinage in the earlier works.
During the exaimnation of several individual coin collections, we have found
that significant number of coins could definitely be attributed to the Hoysalas.
This provided the motivation for bringing out this monograph which we believe
will provide insight into the coinage of Hoysalas thereby paving the way for further
research in this field.
The monograph is divided into three chapters. In the first chapter, a brief
history of the Hoysalas is given. The characteristics of the Hoysala coins froms
the subject matter of the second chapter; the catalogue of coins formating
the last chapter.
