All our handcrafted or rare collector items come with pages and pages of research, also with a provenance and history of the tribes, with photos included whenever possible.
Item description: These pieces are large and hard to fit on one picture, each can differ slightly and can be slightly shorter or longer by 1” or so (size mentioned includes the hand twisted fringes) as they are each a unique product.
Our Ikats are beautifully made with very tight weave. They can have many uses: as a throw over a couch, as a wall hanging, as a tablecloth, bedspread, as a beach mat etc… They can be made into drapes or pillows, pocketbooks or clothing such as jackets, shawls or long skirts as they are beautiful and unique textiles and very rich looking,. They wash very well and are extremely sturdy. We have many ikats and other collectables available and if you do not see what you like here, contact us and we can make more styles available to you. Our ikats were selected by us, for their patterns & beauty, a dozen or so at a time in remote villages on small Indonesian islands along our route. They are a traditional product, and specific artisans and villages are often recognized for their patterns. We select each ikat ourselves, carefully, while on the premises, to insure the best & most intricate traditional motifs as well as the most beautiful colors.
We also carry varied sizes of unique hand-carved wooden display bars also available in our booth if you wish to display your unique textile or tapestry on the wall, for a very chic eclectic look. We have Display Textile Rods Bars ranging in size from 15” to 78” long and we also have many designs and styles available. The effect as a wall hanging is truly striking and the cost extremely reasonable especially when you see the result!
