This vase resembles a granary that is an ancient form of mingqi (funeral object) used to store grains for the owner of a tomb. Qingbai granaries ae among the most common types of objects unearthed at Song- and Yuan period sites. The Yuan example is a masterpiece covered with qingbai glaze and umbelished with under-glaze red. This vessel reflects in clear detail the structure of wooden buildings in Southern Chinaand is an invaluable piece of evidence for the study of ancient architecture.
I have a signed document from a Cunningham Assistant Curator of Chinese art, from the Arthur M Sackler Museum in Boston, Mass. The letter states that this (appears) to be a 13th century Chinese funeral urn. What helped her come to this decision, is the bluish white glaze know as qingbai (pronounced "ching-by"). The value of this piece is estimated at around $75,000.00, but will be available for near half of value at $30,000. I will allow offers for this item
