Welcome to another Exclusive Offering of Fine, Custom-Made Jewelry Art from the heart and talented hands of Award-Winning Goldsmith Shirley Buff "buffee" McNay! Buffee closed her Kindred Spirit gallery in the mountains of New Mexico when she retired a few years ago, and these magnificent pieces have been in storage since then.
This beautiful, custom-made, hand-finished ONE-OF-A-KIND ring was handmade by the lost-wax-casting method from solid 14k gold. It features a large rubelite (deep red tourmaline) and three small diamonds. Size is 5-ish. $975.00 reduced to $499.00
Go to your local mall or chain-store jeweler and you'll easily spend more for a piece of mass-produced, production-line "custom" jewelry when you could just as easily own a true work of art right here, for less.
This is the only piece of buffee's jewelry we are offering that is actually "used", but it was worn for less than one year. The original price in the Gallery was $975.00, but we are offering it here at a Closeout Deal of only $499.00!
PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL STONES IN buffee's JEWELRY ARE 100% AUTHENTIC! She was always fanatical about using only real stones of natural color. No synthetic stones and ABSOLUTELY NO COLOR-ENHANCED STONES! Mass-produced jewelry almost ALWAYS features heat-treated or irradiated stones to deepen the color of inferior sapphires, amethysts, and such, but you'll still be paying them for "premium" stones. The stones you see here are 100% natural and untreated, meaning they will still look this good 1,000 years from now...
All jewelry is shipped to you in a high-quality, padded zip-up storage case for protection.
ALTERATIONS: Please note that the artist who created this fine example of body art is retired, so all jewelry is sold "as is". Any sizing or other alterations will need to be performed by a jeweler of your choosing, at your expense.
ABOUT THE ARTIST: "buffee" (she always spelled it all lower-case) as she is known to her many friends, has degrees in Fine Art and Art Education from SUNY Buffalo, and her work was often described as "organic"and "free-form". I have been intimately familiar with her beautiful work for most of my life, as she is my mother. She was profiled in the book "Texas Women Who's Who" and her work was displayed in the Texas Museum of Fine Art. She is a Diamonds International participant, and she was one of the few artists selected to help with the faithful reproduction of the Crown Of Charlemagne (as seen on the cover of Lapidary Journal) in the 1970s. Her extensive body of work includes handmade gold jewelry, highly unique copper enameling ranging from boldly dramatic to whimsical, and handmade books of poetry. She is spending her retirement doing what she loves best... hunting for fossils and precious stones in the American Southwest, camera in-hand.
You must be 18 or older to make a purchase from Classic Cutlery. Placing a bid/order indicates agreement with all terms of sale.
THE LAST WORD, FROM ONE OF buffee's 1980s-ERA BROCHURES: "I want people to be able to see things in a different way and then dare to be different themselves - that's what makes jewelry designing magical. The best designers are those with the power to create images. They are people who can make others feel good about themselves, and enable them to highlight their own individuality. For them, the urge to create is a prime motivating force. Theirs is the imagination that visualizes a completed piece; theirs is the satisfaction of seeing something they've imagined and made being enjoyed by another person. My jewelry expresses the texture and patterns of our lives, as precious and unique as the individual who wears them. As with any individual, there are times of gaiety and times of solitude, time for laughter and time for quiet sharing. All of our lives have so much of the mundane in them - that's part of living, so why not dream wonderous dreams? Why not dance while the fiddler sleeps? Why not celebrate all of living, rather than live for a single celebration? I create and pursue my craft because it gives me such pleasure and hope that it will be worn and treasured as joyously as it was made." - buffee

| Contact Me |
E-mail is the best way to contact us. If you do not receive a prompt answer, don't worry, we're not ignoring you; we're probably just temporarily up to our necks in packing materials and sharp objects. The eBay environment is largely a self-serve affair, and we do fully describe all our policies here, so we don't have time to respond to e-mails that are already answered in this listing. We are a 2-person shop shipping over 15,000 orders annually (our eBay listings are just part of our cutlery business), and we'd rather be spending our time filling orders for our many loyal customers worldwide since 1983. Thank you for your understanding! |
