Very rare opportunity! We have a total of 21 “Ceylon” sets, broken up into 2 different auctions: 15 sets with the round-top knob variation (this auction) and 6 sets with the drum-top variation (eBay#230270904654). We also have available a double-keyhole Eastlake style entry set (see our other auctions) also made by Corbin during the same year as the “Ceylon” sets.

Made by P.F. Corbin of New Britain, CT circa 1895; each set includes 2 bronze knobs, 2 solid (not stamped or plated), heavy bronze escutcheons, an iron lock with bronze faceplate and key, and 1 spindle with 2 setscrews.

The knobs are the round-top variation of the “Ceylon” pattern . The knobs, escutcheons, and lock plate feature a wonderful array of Aesthetic (or Eastlake) details.

All parts are in great shape with no breaks, cracks, or heavy scratches. The set shown in the photos has been cleaned and polished. However, many of the sets have only been cleaned from dirt and paint, and still retain original patinas of various hues and colors: orange, reddish-brown, greenish-brown, etc. Let us know if you want them left as is or cleaned and polished like the one in the photos. * There is no extra charge for the cleaning and polishing. The locks were all opened, inspected, and greased to operate more smoothly. A key was made especially for this lock. We could make additional keys for a charge of $3/key.

If you’ve never seen the inside of a house where all of the doors are equipped with matching decorative, antique hardware, it is quite spectacular. With all of the sets we have available, you may be able to redo your entire home or office. Once installed, the sets immediately draw your attention—just take a look at the last photos!
