15" Saluda EV1 Project Jungle Ride Disc What is the EV1 Project? This is a fund raising event where Saluda Cymbals takes certain cymbals and recreates them into something unique. The money raised for any EV1 Project cymbal goes to purchase equipment, machinery, cover costs of prototypes/experiments and to help fund the EV2 & EV3 Projects (this is experimenting with casting bells and other cymbals). The EV1 Project uses mostly used, cracked cymbals (from any brand) or Saluda cymbals that were cracked in the hammering phase of customization. Any of these cymbals are cut down and sold as a new type of cymbal. Only Saluda cymbals are labeled the EV Project. Any nonSaluda cymbal within the EV1 Project is sold as that name brand, as a cut down. Saluda does not do as much customizing to nonSaluda cymbals within the EV1 Project. For those following the EV Project, this is an EV1 cymbal and not an EV2 cymbal (which none have been released yet). ------------------------------ For this cymbal, this was a used, cracked 19" Earthworks crash. We cut this cymbal down into a 15" Jungle Ride Disc. This cymbal is now medium-heavy in weight. You can use this as a crash ride, a small jazzy ride or a crash. As a crash ride or crash, you can get a lot of sound (big, deep sound with a lot of jingle). Then as a ride, it has good stick definition that releases the jingles with a shimmering, sizzle sound. The cymbal has three types of sounds and all can be used independently of each other: The cymbal has no dings, no dents, no cracks and no keyholing. This cymbal has a wild, funky sound.
