Description (revised)
Item Specifics
Material : Clay-Stoneware-PotteryCategory, Maker: North Carolina & New England
Category%2C+Maker : Heather Gwinn-Jeff Brown-Cole

Up for auction is a very large, sad/worried face jug made by me, Heather Gwinn. It's 11 inches in height and is about 25 1/2 inches around, at the widest portion. It holds 150 ounces of liquid...(About  19 cups)

(It's the second one I made for this series of large jugs, thrown by Jeff Brown.)

I've decided to start doing some of my own listings because I really feel left out of the loop when it comes to communicating with customers. So, while Rob will still be doing some of them from time to time, I think I should jump in here and do most of them myself. I suppose it makes sense, really... Because he can't tell you as much about my work as I can :-)

This new devil jug and the next few face jug listings are very special to me. The jug portion was thrown by my dear friend Jeff Brown. He is originally from North Carolina but has been in the New England area for several years and has made quite a big name for himself. We decided some months ago that we wanted to collaborate on some face jugs. I must tell you that it's quite an honor to have such a fabulous potter create a blank 'canvas' for me to put my faces on.

If you've ever owned (or currently own) any of my face jugs, you'll see that these new jugs are made with the highest quality and standards. Jeff doesn't mess around when it comes to good work. He is incredibly talented and dedicated to his art. Here is the link to his site---

http://www.jeffbrownpottery.com/life.htm

I think you'll quite enjoy reading about him and perusing his site/pottery.

This sad face jug is 11 inches tall, from the bottom of the jug to the top of the neck. I loooooooove the glaze on this one. I've only used this on a few other pieces but this is the best it's ever looked, in my opinion. The drips at the bottom are my favorite part.

For people who don't know me yet or are looking at my work for the first time, I'm not sure what to write about myself. I think this is the tricky part for most artists. I mean...what do you say about yourself? You know? Rob is much better at this stuff because he can say nice things about me and I really kind of can't.

All I know is that I really love what I do and always keep my fingers crossed that my art will make someone smile or touch someone to the point where they want to proudly display it in their home...workplace...etc...etc I absolutely adore the thought that my work might someday be passed down from generation to generation, just as it's been done with the rest of my family's pottery. Being a Cole potter is a true honor and I hope I am doing my best to represent all the wonderful folk artists who have passed on, as well as the ones who still continue to put their hands in clay every day.

My work ethic, in a nutshell: I try my absolute best to make every single face with a new idea in mind. I'd hate the idea of anyone purchasing a face jug from me and then seeing a duplicate in someone else's collection. I'd prefer, instead, to know that each jug is as original as I can make it. Like a snowflake or a fingerprint.

Most nights I sleep with a sketch pad and a mini recorder on my night stand. Being an insomniac, I have some pretty crazy dreams and nightmares and I always want to document them. It's darn good fodder for these faces---Needless to say, I don't ever run out of ideas...

I think it's more important than anything else, for everyone who buys a piece of my art, to know that they are getting a piece of my mind & heart at the same time :-)

If you have any questions, feel free to throw them my way and I'll try to get back to you as quickly as I possibly can.Have fun bidding & good luck!

~~~~~~~THIS IS A FREE SHIPPING AUCTION~~~~~~~
Side note: Please be honorable and do not bid on this auction unless you're truly interested. Check out my feedback if you have any questions or concerns about my policies---I wrap and protect anything that's delicate till it's practically bulletproof. Therefore, please be understanding about shipping costs. A percentage of that goes toward packaging materials. I try to give you the absolute best so the piece ALWAYS makes it to you, unharmed. If it's possible, many times I will upgrade your order to priority shipping because I want my customers to be extremely happy. Also, if you want to purchase multiple items, I will do my best to work with you and see if I can combine shipping and handling charges. However, if you're local and want it faster or to save a few bucks, please feel free to come and pick it up! Thank you :-)
