"Onion Creek Hideout"

All pictures taken 8/30/09

You are bidding on an Unpatented Placer Mining Claim in the Oregon Territory.  A 160 acre Southern Oregon gold claim in the gold-rich Josephine County. This claim has a paved and well-maintained gravel road that leads right to a wonderful camping spot that is perfect for any size RV or tent trailer. The campsite is situated approximately 400 yds. away from the claim. A well-maintained trail will lead you to your claim's boundaries. There is also many places to pitch a tent with ample room to set up any permissable mining equipment. From any of these places along the trail you will be yards from Onion Creek with simple access to do your mining.   The winning bidder will have all fees paid for this year as well as fees for 2010. You will have nothing to pay until Sept. 1st, 2010. You will have a continually flowing, year-round creek and river that welcomes any permissable sized mining operation. This claim is great for a "camp-n-pan" miner interested in a recreational setting for family and friends or the serious miner ready to dredge.  Gold has been located for this claim along with a proper "Notice of Location" filed with the Oregon BLM & Josephine County. This claim has a large amount of creek and exposed bedrock that has been relatively untouched for years. We recommend and you are welcome to visit and test this claim before bidding. Panning or detecting only, no dredging please. We'll leave that to the winning bidder.

We have been asked to offer a "Buy It Now" amount for this claim. We have calculated the average selling price for 160 acre claims and found it to be $3890. If anyone wishes to skip the bidding format they may send us a message to use this option and the auction will then end immediately after bid has been placed. Lately, many claim auctions have not lasted the entire duration of the auction. So don't wait until the end and miss out!

Why is there still gold in this area?

There has been exceptionally high rain and snowfall totals in Southern Oregon this past year (325% above normal).  This increased runoff has exposed and washed away areas (see video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4aMzcaE9uM) never before seen or worked. The anticipation for big returns on mining claim investments are growing as fast as gold values. "Onion Creek Hideout" is set up beautifully for dredging, panning, sluicing, hiking and camping with areas that provide comfortable access to Onion Creek.

DON'T MISS THIS GREAT OPPORTUNITY!

Welcome to the exciting world of gold prospecting, sluicing, panning, dredging & detecting.  With the daily increase in gold's value it's only natural to want to acquire gold on your own terms while enjoying the great outdoors with an UNPATENTED PLACER MINING CLAIM in the heart of gold country,  SOUTHERN OREGON & NORTHERN CALIFORNIA.  Affordable gold claims are becoming very hard to acquire. There are fewer claim owners offering the chance for ownership lately. Many claims are kept within families for decades. This opportunity is truly unique!

We will always include a properly filed location of minerals with the county and BLM, maps with corners marked and a description with longitude/latitude, locations of access roads, forms on how to keep your claim active, and a notarized quit claim deed in the packet to the winning bidder.  Some claims are better than others as to accessibility and the possibility of finding gold. Prospecting for gold, whether panning, sluicing or dredging is HARD work and gold is HARD to locate. If it were easy to find there wouldn't be a reason for gold claims.  We will answer any questions about our mining claim and post the answer to the question on the auction if that question is pertinent to everyone.  It is important to understand what you are getting for your hard earned money.  If you are in the area we are also willing to show you the claim personally as to the boundaries and location. Here's a description of the auction for

This is an amazing opportunity to own an unpatented mining claim in one of the richest gold producing areas in Oregon.  With GOLD running around $1000.00/ounce (www.goldprices.org) as of this posting, this claim is in one of the richest gold producing areas in Oregon.  Email me with any questions about this unpatented mining claim.  Once you buy the mining claim, you own it for life as long as you maintain the yearly maintenance fee.

WHAT IS AN UNPATENTED MINING CLAIM?  A mining claim is a parcel of land for which the claimant has asserted a right of possession and the right to develop and extract a discovered, valuable, mineral deposit.

IS THE LAND MINE?  In a landmark case in 1930,  the Supreme Court stated that: When the location of a mining claim is perfected  under the law, it has the effect of a grant by the United States of the right of present and exclusive possession.  The claim is property in the fullest sense of that term; and may be Sold, Transferred, Mortgaged, and Inherited without infringing any right or title of the United States and is considered real property.  You own only the mineral rights until a patent is secured from the government.  Presently, there is a moratorium on issuance of patents, however this is subject to change in the future.  Presently, because of the moratorium on issuing Patents, no applications are being accepted.

WHAT IF I FIND OTHERS CAMPING, FISHING, HUNTING HIKING, ETC ON MY CLAIM?  Others may recreate on an unpatented mining claim, however: you have the right to post mining claim signs warning the public of possible hazards and dangerous conditions pertaining to your mining procedures.  You may also post "No Trespassing of Mineral Rights".  In most instances, the public will respect your rights and the signs help to convey the claimants rights.

CAN I SELL OR GIVE MY CLAIM AWAY?    Mining claims and sites are considered real property!  The interest in them and associated rights may be bought, sold, transferred, leased, rented, willed or inherited.  Unpatented mining claims in Oregon are not taxed.  To keep your claim active, you must pay a maintenance fee to the BLM of $140.00 on or before September 1st of each year for the following year.  The BLM does not send notices and expects you to remember to file this fee or your mining claim is declared closed and you lose the possession of your claim.  After a location of mineral deposit has been filed with the county and BLM, a mining claim may be purchased by one or more claimants.

CAN I BUILD ON MY CLAIM?   PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CLOSELY.  The mining laws permit the prospector and miner to make reasonable use of a mining claim, as long as the use is incident and necessary to prospecting, mining and processing operations.  However, an erroneous impression sometimes exists to the effect that the act of staking a mining claim is the shortest route to obtaining public land for a homesite, weekend retreat or other unlawful purpose.  ANY USE OF THE SURFACE OF AN UNPATENTED MINING CLAIM FOR PURPOSES UNRELATED TO MINING IS UNAUTHORIZED and therefore, considered to be in trespass.  (BLM notice to mining claimants, October 2007)

WHO CAN OWN A CLAIM:   Any citizen of the United States, a minor who has reached the age of discretion, a corporation, and non-citizens (aliens) who have declared their intention to become a citizen.

After a location of mineral deposit has been filed with the county and BLM, a mining claim may be purchased by one or more claimantsThe claimant can also be a business name.

At the end of the auction I will email the winning bidder with totals and details for completing the sale and include all the paper work to keep your claim active.  A properly filed quit claim deed will be recorded with the county and BLM by me and I will pay all fees to complete the deed. We require that the winning bidder contact us within 12 hours after the bidding closes.

You must have a PayPal account to bid on this auction and although PayPal is an accepted type of payment we also have other forms of payment available.  Payment must be received within 5 days of close of the auction.

Good Luck with your bidding.
