The topic of this work is the conversion of the heart by meditation on death, hell, heaven and Last Judgement. The four copper engravings depicts these meditations.

William Stanyhurst (Brussels 1601 - 1663) was a prolific Jesuit author and the son of Richard Stanyhurst, an Irish alchemist, translator, poet and historian.
