Overview & Area: Interesting copper-engraved map showing Northern Africa, also called Barbarie (todays Algeria, Tunesia, Libya, Egypt, Mauretania and the Sahara dessert.

Shows several cities, areas, rivers, mountains, lakes,...
 
Each of the four sectoral maps has its own title cartouche.
 
This map is an guaranteed original copper engraving, printed and published around 1683! Allain Mallet is famous for his monumental work: "Description de l'Univers" which contained numerous, small, but accurate and charming maps from all parts of the world. => A very interesting map of the hisoric pilgrimage to Mecca!

Size: engraved area approx.: 6.1" x 4.1" Inches; 15,5 x 10,5 cm + margins

Condition: Good impression printed on hand-laid paper. With some light fading to the corners, some uneven age-toning. Light soiling and spotting, margins & edges with faint printers smudges.
In very attractive and decorative antiquarian condition! => Have a look at the photos for more detail!
