"Who's gonna make who like chicken fricassicassissy?"
Sindbad the Sailor (Bluto) proclaims himself the greatest sailor in the world, a claim which is challenged by Popeye's arrival on his island with Olive Oyl and J. Wellington Wimpy in tow.
Mounted on one 800-foot plastic reel, this is a LIKE-NEW CONDITION 16mm low-fade AGFA COLOR print. There is NOT A SINGLE SPLICE in the entire print. Original head and tail leaders intact. Nice image and great soundtrack. Running time: A whopping 16 minutes 17 seconds.
Many of the backgrounds for this and other early Popeye cartoons were 3D. The backgrounds were built on a large circular stage that was rotated in front of the camera. The characters were then superimposed over this three-dimensional background.
"Who's the most remarkable, extraordinary fellow? Who?"
"Popeye the Sailor!"
The first Popeye cartoon made in color.
