...........................NO RESERVE.........................
There have been lots of sub-standard dupe prints of this PUBLIC DOMAIN feature around for years, but here's a hard-to-find original print with a rich image...
"I didn't mean to kill him, I only meant to stop him, to stop him from going away."
Here I am offering an EXCELLENT CONDITION 16mm ORIGINAL print of the 1934 UNIVERSAL PICTURES crime / drama production of
MIDNIGHT
starring Sidney Fox, O.P. Heggie, Henry Hull, Humphrey Bogart, Margaret Wycherly, Henry O'Neill, Lynne Overman, Richard Whorf, Katherine Wilson, Granville Bates, Cora Witherspoon, Moffat Johnson and Helen Flint.
PRODUCED AND DIRECTED BY CHESTER ERSKINE.
"You see, I loved him. I mean I loved him when...when he didn't love me anymore, day in and day out watching him get further and further away from me. I could see in his eyes when he looked at me...I could see he hated me, hated me because I needed him. Oh, I was so frightened, so mixed up. It's so horrible to see someone who's become part of you slipping away, slowly. To feel helpless and empty, lonely and frantic, wanting to do something, anything, anything to bring him back!"
O.P. Heggie lays jury foreman Edward Weldon, who has no qualms about sentencing a woman to death for a crime of passion. His unpopular decision makes Weldon persona non grata even in his own home, but he sticks to his firm belief that all murderers must pay the supreme penalty, no matter what the provocation. He soon has cause to regret his intractability when his own daughter Stella (Fox) kills a former lover who betrayed her. (Hal Erickson---ALL MOVIE GUIDE)
Mounted on two 1200-foot plastic reels, this is an EXCELLENT CONDITION 16mm ORIGINAL print. Totally complete, no vinegar syndrome, rich, dense image, great soundtrack. 76 minutes. BLACK AND WHITE.
MIDNIGHT was later reissued by Astor Films as CALL IT MURDER to cash in on Bogart's latter-day popularity.
THIS FEATURE IS IN THE PUBLIC DOMAIN.
