Up for your consideration is a fine vintage 16s Illinois "Bunn Special" marked 23j/60hr Type III railroad grade pocket watch, circa 1928.
Bunn Special 23j/60hr movement. Excellent condition. No Reserve!

This is the start of my annual fall auctions of Railroad Grade pocket watches and other fine timepieces. I have been saving up all year putting away some real gems for this sale. Some great surprises are coming including investment grade Hamilton, Illinois, Ball & other fine & rare railroad watches. Also coming is the most scarce Illinois every made the infamous "163 Type II" of which only 50 were produced & only 8 known to survive & this one is investment grade!! So, now through the holidays keep checking my auctions & see what is new. All just starting at $9.95 with no reserve!

Very nice 10k gold filled case. Watch measure's 51mm.

Dial is snowy white with BIG, BOLD numerals. What a great looking dial!

Close-up of this handsome double sunk Illinois dial. There is a very faint hairline or scratch at the 19 minute marker.

Plumb hands add a nice touch to this watch.

Case shows some light wear from carry & use.

Case back has a handsome monogram.

Bow and pendant show light brass. The case does show very very minor brass.
There is a ding on the back as seen in the photos.

Case is marked Bunn Special / Model #107 / Keystone J. Boss / 10k Gold Filled.

Clean 16s 23j /60hr movement is stem wind & lever set. Movement is running fine & has excellent motion.
Movement has not been serviced or timed.

Marked Illinois Bunn Special ~ 23 Jewels ~ Sixty Hour ~ Motor Barrel ~ adjusted temp. & 6 positions ~ serial number 5180221 dates this to 1928.
A nice example of a desirable watch . This is a must have for the serious railroad watch collector.

Of Special Note: If you are using an older copy of Shugart's book, throw it away & get the 2009 copy. Prices are considerably higher, as much as $1000! You really don't want to miss out on these watches by underbidding using an old book & regretting in later, which you will, because you will not find nicer examples of these railroad watches, period.

What else can I say? These will be the nicest examples of pocket watches you will find on Ebay or the internet. I take great pride in my watches & promise these will be the crown jewels in your collection. Photos should tell the rest of the story.
