"ILLUMINATED MANUSCRIPT ON VELLUM LEAVES AFRICAN PRAYER BOOK OR GOSPELS"

Circa 1700s-1800s Manuscript on Vellum Ethiopian Gospels or prayerbook in the Ancient Ge'ez language. One of the 3 full page paintings suggests that this is indeed the Gospels. Bound in its Original Hand-Carved Wooden boards with open back. Measures 9.25" x 7.50." Contains 72 Thick Vellum Leather leaves (or 144 manuscript pages) with 3 full page paintings, the first is of Christ bearing the Cross to Golgotha, The second is of the Trinity, God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit with the symbols of the 4 Gospels in the corners Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, and finally a full page painting of Christ entering Jerusalem on a donkey!
