DETAILS

Soft card covers. A scarce first and only edition of this book.

Early and substantial effort to catalogue much of the realm's excise taxes, arranged by subject and then chronologically, with a valuable appendix alphabetically digesting the legislation by subject.

CONDITION

The binding is generally firm, though the cords are showing throughout. Both covers are attached by the cords only. There is some wear to all the extremities. The spine is detached and missing, and the card covers are stained and chipped. Internally the book is generally bright apart from some continuous spotting and water staining. There are also some handling marks and black stains. The front blank end papers are chipped with loss, and the title page has a small amount of damage which slightly affects the text. The date of the book has been written in pencil to the front paste down, first front blank end paper, and to the title page.
