    This bird's eye view of Imperial City [birth place of Charlemagne] of Aix-La-Chapelle was published in August issue of the Gentleman s Magazine in 1748. This map [decorated with a nice cartouche and a compass rose] was produced by the famous Thomas Jefferys [signed under the cartouche] after the French stormed Maastricht in April 1748 and before The treaty of Aix la Chapelle [that concluded the War of Austrian Succession] was signed [in October 1748]. Very detailed with more than 30 keys that identify many principal places and buildings of this beautiful city [Aachen of prensent day Germany].
