1780 AUSTRIAN TRADE DOLLAR (THALER)

This was in my fathers box of coins. 

It is minted by the Austrian Imperial Government as a trade dollar

The largest & oldest Silver coin produced by Numerous Central European Countries.

The Front Side is a 'bust' portrait of The Austrian Empress.  Marie Antionette was

 her youngest daughter.

On the reverse:  A Double-headed Eagle and The Imperial Arms of The House of Hapsburg.

The Motto surrounding the coat of arms is abbreviated Latin for:

"Mother Teresa, by the grace of God, Empressof the Romans, Queen of Hungary and

Bohemia.  Archduchess of Austria, Duchess of Burgundy, Countess of Tyrol"

THESE COINS HAVE BEEN ISSUED MORE OR LESS CONTINUALLY SINCE 1780.

THIS IS A MODERN RESTRIKE FROM ORIGIONAL DIES.........IT IS NOT A COPY!

It contains about the same amount of 3/4 oz of 100% Pure Silver as the Morgan Silver Dollar
