Measurement of cannon / lantaka:

Length: 99 cm / 39 inches

Diameter (largest point): 9.8 cm / 3.9 inches

Cannon's age: Over 200 years old.

Weight: 16.4 kg / 36.1 lb

Condition: Brass/bronze material all round, inside out, will never rust. The delicate carvings on the cannon were adopted from fern and floral motifs, strongly suggesting that this is a Dayak own cannon many years ago, a Borneo cannon, not from Europe region.

Origin: Forged in Brunei, found near the Mahakam rivers of Indonesia.This river is the most important traffic route in that region, spanning between 700 and 800 kilometers. Big ships use the big river system until the highlands, mostly for logging purposes, but this too supports the fact that normally only larger vessels carry cannons, not necessarily for war purpose only but this cannon may also be used as:
