1800’s WHITNEY & RAYMOND REED ORGAN United States, Cleveland Ohio WHITNEY & RAYMOND: 120-122 Champlain St., Cleveland, OH 1873-88: Windsor Ave. in 1888: O.C. Whitney began making melodeons in Conneautville, PA in 1856, moved to Meadville, PA in 1865 where he formed a partnership as Whitney & Holt, and then to Cleveland, OH in 1870 where he established the firm of Whitney & Slayton. Later F.L. Raymond acquired Slayton’s interest and the firm was renamed Whitney & Raymond, and was operating under this name in 1885. A.H. Steadman was admitted and the name became Whitney, Raymond & Co. From 1889 to 1895 the firm became known as F. L. Raymond: manufactured the United States Organ.
