Up for auction is the 1802 THE ARABIAN NIGHTS also known as THE BOOK OF THE ONE THOUSAND AND ONE NIGHTS in complete 5 volumes by the famous Reverend Edward Foster. All five volumes measure 5.25in x 8.5in x 1.2in. This is one of the most respected English translations of the Arabian Nights. These remarkable engravings are the work of Robert Smirke. As it is with all of my books that are currently up for auction, these complete five volumes are hard to find in such a fine condition. As you can see from the photo, other than minor wear due to its age, these books are in outstanding condition with the exception of some foxing which are common with book that are this old. All bindings are tight and everything intact with the exception of the 1st volume in which there is a inconspicuous cracking on the hinge but clearly this is due to its old age; despite this normal flaw, the biding is tight and the cover and all the pages are intact.Other than that, all five volumes will impress you. Such rare books will only increase in value, thus, it is not only a valuable collection but also a good investment. My books are the rarest to find and these five volumes would be an excellent addition to your rare book collection.
