Chamisha Chumshei Torah
(the five Chumashim of the Torah)
Lamberg 1808
The following is a set of the five Chumashim of the Torah which were printed in Lamberg.
The Chumashim were printed in an elegant printing in the printing press of Rabbi Naftali Hirtz Grossman.
The Chumashim were printed by G-D fearing Jews in Lamberg.
The Chumashim include the interpretation of Rashi, Siftei Chachamim and the Alshich.
The followings set is of five volumes.
In Chumash Dvarim 2 pages are missing from the end.
Chumash Vayikrah has two torn pages and a large part of one of the torn pages is missing.
All the title pages of the books are identical, however, the title page of Chumash Bamidbar is different and was printed in red ink and in a different custom.
However, this is part of the set.
The Chumashim in general are in excellent condition and rare.
The Bereshit, Shmot, Bamidbar and Dvarim Chumasim have a stamp which proves that the books belonged to a Tehilim company of Rabbi Shlomo Chaim Gerber in Butshan 1875.
In the Vayikrah Chumash there is a stamp which proves that the book belonged to
Rabbi Yisrael, son of Rabbi Chaim Yitzchak Rabbi of Erloy.
Very rare.
