DESCRIPTION: Our opening bid is our reserve. Staffordshire transferware. Beautiful and quite scarce early dark blue transfer plate with an American view. The pattern is called the "Union Line" from Enoch Wood and sons Irregular Shell border series. The plate dates to the 1820s to circa 1825. Marked with an impressed Enoch Wood mark. The Union Line was a steamship that was used to transport passengers and cargo from Philadelphia to New York in the 1820s. Nice hard to fins view from this collectible series. Condition is excellent. No chips, cracks, or repairs. The plate is nice and clean. The glaze is shiny. There is a tiny discolored glaze pop on the interior of the plate (in-the-making). When tilted toward the light a few light knife marks can be noticed (less than average). The plate displays great. Excellent example of a hard to find American view. Scarce size measuring about 8 1/2" in diameter.
