Notes:An engaging contemporary analysis on the historic book, which was published in 1821.

Fascinating review that considers monolithic China, its society and self sufficiency, in addition to analyzing the travel notes of a Chinese envoy, Tulisen (or Tulishin), to the Torghuts - Mongol nomads who had emigrated to the lower Volga Valley. Tulisen was expected to look into their situation, and to size up their Russian suzerains. Features some information about the journal's translation by Staunton - British ambassador to China at the time and highlights of Tulisen's meetings.

A rare and special item to pair with the collector's copy of the book!

Condition: 13 pages. Book review. These are the original text pages printed in 1821. Excellent condition, attractively bound in blue paper covers with label.
