1822 STAFFORDSHIRE BLUE TRANSFERWARE PLATE ~ MINTON
Pattern : Chinese Marine Maker: Minton, Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire, England. 1822-1836
Measures 10 1/2 ins wide.
This is a beautiful cobalt blue Staffordshire Transferware Dinner Plate made by Minton of Staffordshire, England. This Chinese Marine pattern has a Chinoiserie pattern of a stylized Chinese garden walk shaded by tall ornamental trees and what look like coconut palms. In the distance is a large palace and then more pleasure domes behind. A winding river with trading boats draws the eye into the picture - it really does look like pictures I have seen of Chinese waterways!
It has a gadrooned/pie crust rim and the border is decorated with bouquets of chrysanthemums and roses.
Very clearly signed on reverse with the pattern name Chinese Marine, the cursive M for Minton and Opaque China.
Condition is good. There are some under rim chips which have been professionally filled at some time (not by me!) None of them affect the upper surface and it displays nicely. Would be great to hang on the wall.

Payment due on receipt of invoice and within 7 days. Shipping by USPS including packing and delivery confirmation. Paypal is only payment type accepted from foreign buyers. Others may use Paypal, cashiers check, personal check or money order. PA residents must pay 6% sales tax unless furnishing current resale license number.
Shipping is usually within 1 business day of receiving payment. I use USPS Priority,Parcel Post or 1st Class with delivery confirmation. International sales are by First Class International to Canada which will be the same price as the USA for jewelry items; for other larger items and elsewhere, please e mail for shipping charges.
Please note First Class International is the former air mail letter post which has no tracking or insurance available. I love my overseas buyers and so hate to say this but for items which sell for over $50, it is strongly recommended that you consider Priority Mail International which allows on line tracking and insurance. Priority Mail International is required for items which sell for over $75. This can mean shipping for jewelry items will range from about $20-$25.
A small charge of $1 to $2.50 may be made for packing materials particularly for ceramic and glass items. If it will be any more, this will be noted in the description.
I hate to say but please do not bid if you have 0 Feedback without contacting me first to arrange payment methods or your bid will be canceled due to non paying bidders. Otherwise, have fun!
Please note that antique ceramics will often have small in the making flaws such as minor kiln grit and transfer smudges due to the primitive nature of the wood fired kilns in which they were made and that no attempt is made to describe them. Acquired damage will, of course, be noted.
