1823 De la Marche map of South America
10 x 11 inch (25 x 28 cm) copper plate engraved map with original outline color. On a larger sheet. Dated 1822 on map, but source is a 1823 atlas. Centerfold, as issued. VG+ condition; a very clean example and a nice strong strike. This map by De la Marche, fils ( the son); the father had succeeded Robert de Vaugondy.
Numerous place names. Here the Falklands are "Malouines". Very nice topographic detail. Patagonia takes up the entire Southern tip of continent; Chile truncated, No Bolivia nor Ecuador. Oddly shaped Peru that extends to Tropic of Capricorn. Some very confused boundaries.
