PLEASE NOTE: I am still not even half way through the rare coin portion of this estate and seem to be getting nowhere fast, so rather than wasting endless hours that I don't have giving unnecessary descriptions, I am asking you to look at the enlargements of these coins and bid accordingly. I will still list any serious problems (cleaning, scratches, dents, etc) in the description so there are no surprises when you get them, and if I miss any I will consider a return on a case by case basis, but the same rules will apply- these are true auctions from here on out and all sales are final unless I grossly misdescribe an item. If you look at my feedback, you will note that I have been right on with my descriptions and I have had zero complaints privately so far (knock on wood), so you can expect a very nice coin unless I describe it as not so nice below, you have my word.

Please ask any questions before you bid. I will reply promptly.

This auction is for a 1830/29 choice XF Capped Bust Dime, note on holder said '30/29 later die state' and 'rare', very light scratch at 5 o'clock on the front, I barely noticed it, good details, nice coin, not quite as dark as pictures

Estimated value: 390-500. (based on PCGS and Numismedia web sites as well as national dealer listings)

Keep checking back as I will be listing more over the next several days, you might find something nice that you are looking for.

These items are being sold for a friend in need, so please,

*** PAYMENT IS DUE IMMEDIATELY UPON CLOSE OF AUCTION ***

* unless you have bids on other auctions that will close within 7 days of first auction won in order to get free shipping.

I have personally viewed all of these items and can tell you that it is all nice stuff and it looks like any junk was already culled out.

Any remarks in the auction description are from the collector's notes on the original holder. Any grades listed are only his opinion or the opinion of the various dealers or collectors he got them from.

I will describe anything that I think might be a problem so there won't be any surprises, so please help the seller out and bid what it is worth.

The photos are large and clear, so please refer to them and grade for yourself, but keep in mind that if you bid based on an unfair grade, a fair grader will outbid you. Best of luck!

Because these are being sold for another party to clear that part of the estate, all items are for final sale- no returns will be accepted unless grossly misdescribed, so PLEASE ASK ANY QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU BID. Questions should be asked with enough time before the auction ends to allow time to get a reply from the owner so that I can get back to you in time.

I GUARANTY ALL ITEMS TO BE GENUINE OR YOUR MONEY BACK

POSTAGE & INSURANCE is $3.50 and $1.00 per additional item, unless otherwise stated to cover heavy/bulky items.

If you don't think this is fair, please do not bid. There have been several substantial postal price increases in the last 2 years. I do not profit from it and don't think it is fair to take poor star ratings just because a buyer thinks I should charge less than the actual cost, or because an eBay employee is too inept to understand their own rules. Thank you for understanding.

Win 3 or more auctions in a 7 day period and POSTAGE & INSURANCE IS FREE. Bid high and bid often and save $$$ on postage.

On Nov-02-09 at 09:25:40 PST, seller added the following information:

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE BIDDING:

I was asked about the odd toning. When I was a child, my neighbor had some old coins in a kitchen cabinet above the stove that she'd show me from time to time. When she moved, she gave me those coins for all the help I had given her over the years. Most were winged liberty dimes and they were in high grade, mostly AU and uncirculated, but they looked like this. In those days, cleaning coins was normal practice, so I got out mom's dishwashing soap and soaked them in hot water. When I checked in a few minutes, I noticed a greasy film floating on top of the water. I came to realize that the 'toning' was actually just kitchen grease that had built up over the years and that these coins actually looked like new dimes! While I can't be sure that this coin just has a build-up of common kitchen grease on it that would come off to reveal a 'new' coin, it appears that this might be the case. Yes, there are signs of mint luster under this 'toning' and it might be an AU coin, but it doesn't belong to me, so you decide when you receive it.

The scratch is just a light surface abrasion between the date and last star and was so well hidden in the toning that I didn't even see it until I looked at the enlarged photos. It is insignificant enough that I think most dealers wouldn't even mention it, but as you can see from my feedback, I want to make sure everyone is happy with their purchases, so I figured rather than disappoint a picky collector that I would point it out. It can only be seen under bright light at certain angles.

Also, on the question of whether this is the overdate vs. standard date- I have personally viewed the coin under 10X glass and the diagnostics are there. While I agree that I am not a professional authenticator, I will back this coin with a guaranty. I understand that it is worth more than twice as much as the standard date and want to make sure that you feel secure in bidding what it is worth and will actually get what you are bidding for, so if you have this coin authenticated as a non-overdate by ANACS/NGC/PCGS/ANA, I will accept it back for a full refund of your purchase price plus shipping both ways via 1st class mail.

Just wanted to elaborate on these points so you understand what you are bidding on a little more clearly. Good luck in your bidding!
