This beautiful old plate dates from the 1830s or 40's. Manufactured by Minton in Staffordshire, England, the Morea pattern is a blue transferware pattern of classical ruins and a border of floral garlands and Corinthian capitals. The edges are gently scalloped and the pattern is printed in half tones flanked with full tones. It is just lovely, marked with the blue Morea Stone China on the reverse. Unfortunately, this lovely plate has age issues which include a minor flake on the rim and crack that appears in the photos. It is still a beautiful plate and would make a wonderful display piece.
