808, (4 [family records]), [2]-811-1061, ([1]-xxxiv [index]), (1 [Weights & Measures]),  92 pp.

 

Bound in contemporary full speckled calf with four raised bands with gilt rules; red morocco spine label with gilt lettering. Two bookplates in elegant handwritten script designating this book as a gift to Nathan Lippincott from his Aunt Hope Lippincott, and dated June 22, 1842. With further genealogical information on the Lippincott family to 1877 (Nathan Lippincott died in 1875). Also includes a handwritten and stitched note that was laid-in (see photo).

 

In Very Good antiquarian condition. Covers show some light edgewear, rubbing, with an old ring on front board. Some sporadic foxing and light stains, (with a "frost" like discoloration to the endpapers). The pages are clean, and the binding is strong.

 

An uncommonly nice copy of this scarce early American Quaker Bible.
