Preliminary Observations on the Principles of Good Reading, Pittsburgh, PA: Published by Johnston & Stockton, 1835.
Previous owner's signature on reverse of endpaper facing the title page, signed Samuel G. Kelley, dated 1851. Signature in the rear as well.
Fair to Poor Condition. Boards bound in quarter leather. Wear to the corners and edges of the boards, with wear to
the front and rear of the boards as well. Leather on the spine is worn showing threads within, with some loss to the top of the binding at the hinges. Rubbed corners, appear rounded. Rear board wear with bumped and nudged corners and edges, with the corners having loss, as well as the front corners. Wear and aging to the leather at the rear board. Pages are generally clean with some expected aging and soiling to the paper. Previous owner's
inscription on the rear and front blank endpapers. Wear at the binding to the front and rear hinges. Endpapers could possibly be removed and the signatures may just be on the blank fly leaves, it seems like there might be some tears at the hinges, but could just be a binding discrepancy.
See pictures below for a better representation of the condition.
