    This auction is for a rare 1836 Des Bauern und Handwertsmanne's Calender, a German almanac printed by Georg W. Mentz und Sohn of Philadelphia Pennsylvania. It still has the original string hang thread, overall condition is good with page toning/foxing from age, some folded page edges and edge/wear/corner chips as shown. Penciled inscription on front binding edge and bottom of title page, it would appear this was given as a gift on the occasion of George P. Shaffer's 102nd birthday in 1938, no other noted writings within. Threaded spine is sound, it has 34 pages and measures approx. 6 1/2" by 8". Condition is as shown in the pictures.
     An excellent regional 173 year old piece, it will make a superb Gift or addition to your Collection!!
