Swedenborg was born in Stockholm, Sweden. He was Sweden's leading scientist and an expert in mining and metallurgy ...not to mention Sweden's leading seer and clairvoyant medium. His ideas are incorported in the Swedenborgian Church of the New Jerusalem. The Swedenborg Foundation is currently based in West Chester, PA, and is based on Swedenborg's theology. This Publication: This periodical was published in Tübingen, Germany, in 1846. It was published by Dr. Johann Friedrich Immanuel Tafel, who was a philosophy professor and university librarian in Tubingen. Tübingen is located in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, near Stuttgart. Dr. Johann Tafel (Born 1796 - died 1863) was born in Sulzbach am Kocher, Geramny, and died in Bad Ragaz, Schweiz / Switzerland. He was a philosophy professor at the university in Tübingen. Beginning in 1821, he began to translate Swedenborgian writings into German. Tafel's colleagues included Justinus Kerner and Friederike Hauffe In this issue, Dr. Tafel presents the German-lanague translation of a Swedenborian tract that had previously been written in England by Rev. William Mason. It is titled Die apostolische Lehre von der Versöhnung... (A Dialogue on the Apostolic Dotrine of the Atonement...) Rev William Mason, was born in London and coverted to Swedenborgianism when he was 18. He was a minister at the Babington Lane Chapel, in Derby, England. He was associated with the Nottingham group of Swedenborgians. P.S. Eastern Pennsylvania has alway been an epicenter of Swedenborgian religion. Francis Bailey, an 18th century printer in Lancaster and Philadelphia, was the first American apostle of the Swedenborgian church, and was their first American printer. The Pennsylvania German printer Joseph Ehrenfried, of Lancaster, also was Swedenborgian, in the early 1800s. Rare: I have not located this title for sale elsewhere.
