Extra fine paisley shawl dating to the mid-19thc. when a very long shawl was required to go around the large crinolines of the period. Likely French origins with the extravagant design elements. This shawl is not hand made. These long shawls are essential accessories for Civil War garments and make nice decorative touches in the home as well, try them for holiday buffet table, a pleasant and no fuss alternative to white linen or lace. This elegant 1850's paisley shawl breathes with vibrance of old colors. The gates and paisley are machine done. The fringe is all there on both ends.

MEASUREMENT: The shawl measures 130" x 62".

CONDITION: Shawl is in excellent condition, unwashed, with no fading , no spots or wear. When held up to the light of a window I do see any holes. It is completely free of any kind of holes or moth damage! No Odors. It's only imperfection is the very small rip at top edge that I mentioned. The shawl does not have any stains and it is clean. It doesn't have any odors.

This piece is well preserved and worthy of collecting.
