1850s German 800 Silver Judaica Hebrew Ritual Spoon
- Look at this interesting silver spoon. It was used for a Jewish ritual, and is hand engraved with a character from the Hebrew alphabet
- This is a very early metric spoon, dating back to the c 1830-50s. It was made after the fall of the Loth System in Germany and the acceptance of the Unified Metric System for marking silver
- The Loth System was in force from the Middle Ages to around 1836, when it was changed to Metric
- This spoon was all hand made. The shape is typical of older spoons from the late 18th /early 19th century, but its mark 800 is in a rectangle - a mark used by the Unified Metric System
- Measurements: Approx. 26 gr or 7/8 oz. in weight. About 6.25" long
