This is a little seen, seldom found extra large patent report with picture published April 3, 1852. This patent was granted to it's inventor,
C. V. Nickerson of Baltimore, Maryland.
Item consists of introducing invention with detailed engravings and more details and explanations of workings. "The nature of my invention and improvement consists in dividing the stock at the junction of the barrel and breech, and furnishing the butt of the stock with a horizontal bar or gide blade projectiing from the lower portion thereof, fitted into a socket, or case, secured by the under-side of the stock..... ." Parts are labeled in engraving.
