1855 Railroad Survey Print: Valley of the Williams River
6.5 x 9 inch (16 x23 cm) tinted lithograph plate from the report of the U.S. Pacific Railroad Exploration and Surveys along the 35th Parallel. One of the few with artists name—J. S. Tidball, U.S.A.—on the print. Published for the Government by Sarony, Major & Knapp, New York
Nicely composed print showing 3 wagons going up the valley of the Williams River (Arizona) with mountains in the background and the River in the foreground. Usually known as the "Bill Williams" River, it is a quite short river in a little know part of Arizona. Now dammed near its source by the Alamo Reservoir, the river flows through the Buckskin Mountains in west central Arizona and joins the Colorado at Lake Havasu. Overall condition is VG- with a small stain lower right corner just touching the printed surface. Priced accordingly.
