Simple description: ORIGINAL Civil War soldier's button (Mounted in a nice display case!)
Date: 1860's
Background: This original button fell of a soldier's uniform cuff while in the General Grant's Union Army camp in Petersburg, Virginia. The battle of Petersburg was pivotal- Grant's army laid seige to the city for months, and when it finally fell the path to Richmond was open. Union and Confederate soldiers spent the long days in trenches, where this relic was dropped. This is EXTREMELY rare because it was an official government issue.
Other Details: Button is believed to be 100% authentic, excavated with permission and obtained from a reputable dealer. It still retains some of the gold on the face!
